Banded crow...

While doing some scouting here in Oklahoma I met a rancher who shoot's a few crow's now and then. He showed a pic of a crow he shot last year with a band on it's leg. The band had a phone number on it but he had never called it in. I convinced him to call it in to see what we could learn about the crow's travels. The band had stamped,( 1-800-327-Band.  Laurel MD. )   The phone number is no longer valid but while doing some searching on the web I found a page of the Bird Banding Laboratory in Laurel MD. who is part or the rocky point bird observatory which is located in Victoria British Columbia . It appears that he can still send in the band info via e-mail on their web sight, not sure if he will or not. Has me wondering if this crow came from Maryland or British Columbia or perhaps elsewhere ? Anyone else have any experience with this process ?   I'll update if we get more info. Paul.

Just call the number of the bird banding lab in Maryland and they will send you a certificate with information about where the crow was banded. Just give them the band numbers.

I forwarded that info to the rancher. Now knowing he may receive a certificate perhaps he will follow up.
