I'm in the early stages of designing/making some new hunting apparel. Just wondering if y'all had any strong opinions (for or against) the main camo patterns that are out there? I do most of my hunting in an old Mossy Oak ShadowLeaf button-up shirt that I have had for well over 20 years or in a Natural Gear zip-up fleece jacket. I'm just wondering if there is any type of consensus for or against anything....
My thoughts are that camo isn't a necessity. Just something neutral/drab that blends in with the background. So, I don't have a strong opinion on a specific pattern. Whatever you like best, I'd say. I have a Realtree insulated coat that I wear a lot. If its's really cold I wear a pair of surplus woodland camo BDU's with a pants liner buttoned in. Otherwise, olive drab pants. My partner wears a woodland camo coat over a pair of denim bib overalls or insulated Carhart's when it gets cold.
I like the looks of Natural Gear and have an insulated coat for when my other one wears out. My cold weather cap is German flectarn camo. Short brimmed with ear flaps that fasten under the chin, or fold over the head when not needed. That cap was made for crow hunting. And I like the pattern.
We're about forty-five days away, if M12 hasn't shot 'em all. Good hunting to you this season.
Drab is standard. I found the Natural Gear line of hunting clothes and they have found their way into my locker. And for me another standard is a face mask. Something to hide my hair and beard and that I can shoot with and see out of. I haven't been intentionally crow hunting for very long but I have come to really enjoy it. I wish I'd discovered this sooner.
Crow camouflage clothing: Agree with all..drab colors to be sure. I am a fan of WWII, Viet Nam, multi-color green clothing. But what was not mentioned is something I think it more important than pants and shirts--gloves and facemasks. If you have a decent blind, hidden in tree line or in trees or brush your unprotected hands and face can be shining reflectors!! Plus your face and especially hands tend to be moving all the time vs. your body. Crows SEE the movement and are attracted to your refections. Just one opinion here! Enjoy and good luck
