10ga and I got out today, the weather was sunny with a light SW west wind. We did not see any crows migrating today but there was a good number of migrant birds milling about our location. We hunted from first light until 1:30 PM and put 89 birds on the ground. We used a pair of vintage auto loaders, a Remi...

After checking a pecan orchard that harvested nearly 250 crows in three hunts last year, I knew it would be slow. No irrigation, hot summer and no fertilizer equals very few nuts. But I’ll be leaving out of town for a few days and didn‘t want to wait. I put up the blind yesterday and talked a coworker into g...

Every Fall we organize a crow hunting trip with guide Jerry Tomlin in the Aiken, SC/Augusta, GA area. Our family shares a small place in Graniteville, SC which includes a small cabin that my grandfather built, which serves as our home base. Jerry arranges hunts each morning in some nearby pecan orc...

That book changed my life regarding how I hunted crows....I couldn't do everything in that book but it was extremely important. Over the years I watched others making mistakes left and right. Have any of you ever tried hunting with a shotgun with a mini size shotgun optical aiming system, or small telescope, mounted on it? Actually , I believe that these aiming aids are NOT telescopes, as the ones I've read about do not magnify the image. One popular brand is Aimpoint, and I believe that ther...

Of an upcoming hunting trip to me is almost like being a kid again. Getting things together, checking equipment y'all get the picture. As you can tell I'm heading out tomorrow for a 3 day hunt. Won't be long until the crows push south so Im taking advantage of my last week or so. Dog and I chased a huge feeding flock around late yesterday afternoon. 10ga and I got this Saturday and Sunday morning, 9/29 and 9/30, we had one the best two day shoots for these parts we can ask for in September. We took down 64 birds between us. We were both using 1 1/8 ounce of #6 from a pair of 10 gauge double guns, a Lefever and an Ithaca. This morning we had an immature Ba...
