Scouting
(Preview)
Invested two days and have drove just under a thousand miles so far with good results. Thought we had lost one of our better orchards but the previous Owner spoke well for us and We will also get to shoot a orchard the new Owner already owns. Hope we can make a good start with Him and take out a bunch of Crows....

Ghost Blind
(Preview)
Curious if any of you have used one of these for any type of hunting. Friend has one that he has never used and wants to get rid of it. Wondering if I might find a use for it; not necessarily for crows. Does the sun cause any glare issues? Seems sorta flimsy, any issues in the wind?

Crow calling tips
(Preview)
This is my first year crow hunting and even though I haven't broken double digit numbers it has been the second best hunting I have ever enjoyed (opening day of dove will always be my #1). I am wanting to know if you all have any advise that will help with the learning curve. I have a foxpro that is working bu...

Waterfowl hunt & video
(Preview)
Well, I haven't been able to get out yet for crows this season. However, I did get to Saskatoon Canada for a week long waterfowl hunting trip in October. The outfitter compiled a 10 min video of our week. I wanted to ask before posting if it would be OK to post link (Youtube). I'll post if there's positive r...

A couple more "Metro Cam" videos.
(Preview)
I apologize in advance for the shakiness, this time, the camera was mounted on my head, instead of on the gun, so there is alot more motion as I scan for targets. I also admit to failing miserably as a hunter... in the first video, you may notice that I only have 1 shell in a gun that holds 5 when the crows arr...

Piebalds, I thought they were rare?
(Preview)
The migration through south eastern NH appears to be finished, at least for the big groups going through. Yesterday morning 10ga and I took a stand and we killed a few over a couple of hours. When we were picking up we found another Piebald. We went decades without seeing or shooting one and now two i...

Solo hunt
(Preview)
I rarely get to go shoot by myself. My new buddy Butch hooked me up with what was going to be a new location and I set up a hunt for Sunday morning. I stayed up and watch the Bama/LSU game until about midnight and got up at 3:00 AM to go to the pecan orchard. I get there and recognize it instantly. I shot it about 1...

Any Ontario Crow hunters on here?
(Preview)
Hey guys~I'm totally new to crow hunting, save for a few I've blasted with the .223 while groundhog hunting up here. (terrific results with ballistic tip 55gr. hand-loads) This fall, I'm prepped with good camo, decoys, and am ordering a couple of hand calls today. I've even been shooting allot of...

Disrespectful Hunters !
(Preview)
Thought this only applied to Deer hunters here in Alabama, not Crow hunters but I was wrong. Set up this A.M. on a orchard things started slow and crows were call shy, suspected a local had been after them to much. After we had killed maybe 15 started hearing shots in the distance where other smaller grov...

Son gets his first deer.
(Preview)
I know this is not crow related, but as a proud dad I had to share it here. My son is also the reason I got into making crow calls. At around 2 years old he got my one good crow call and chewed up the mouth piece. After buying a number of calls that I didn't like I decided to try and make my own. That was many calls ag...

I don't think anybody's asked this question this year, so here goes. Given that the cost per 100 of 12 ga. "everyday loads", "trap and field" etc. in 7 1/2s are now going for about $28-$29 + tax ($.06 in MI) at Wal-Mart (Federal, Winchester), is anyone out there finding it less exp...

Starting to get a little push of birds
(Preview)
We have turned the page of the calendar to October and with October comes migrating crows. We traveled about an hour north today to find most of the corn still standing. The grass field in front of our blind was nice and low. Not much color in the trees. A front moved off to the northeast early in the mo...

Finicky crows
(Preview)
Finicky crows.........or, I ain't gonna eat this slop, even if I am a crow! Other day I threw out some slightly molded white loaf bread to the crows, that haunt a vacant lot beside my house. The crows snubbed it , as if they were on a health kick! Usually, I toss them a slice of whole wheat bread, and they qui...

Source for good value Mil-Spec camouflage netting

I am working on a design for a PVC-framed portable blind for which I will need some OK-to-good-quality camouflage netting. Ambush X 2
(Preview)
Ambush: "a concealed place where enemies lie in wait to attack by surprise" according to Webster. As a run & gunner I would admit "ambush" is sort of my mindset once I set up in the woods, concealed, lying in wait for crows to respond to my sounds. This was certainly my plan las...

I am sure Bob will have the best streaks but I am interested to see how everyone does. I once killed 19 in a row (19 in 19 shots). It was midday and they all came in one at a time slow and low. My best "Gun Full" of ammo streak was 4 out of 5 shots. The 4th bird in the murder made a move on me right as I hit th...

I was out with my boy this weekend chasing some ruffed grouse in the bush as crows for the most part have left south into the Mid West for the winter. We managed to shoot some ruffed grouse but in our travels blundered upon a small group of tardy crows feeding out in a harvested bean field. Luckily still had...
