Fall crows
(Preview)
Been a while since I’ve posted anything and it’s been rather quiet here so I thought I’d get things rolling. Hot dry summer netted me some decent run and gun but the cooling temperatures and turning leaves have me pumped for shooting some crows. Sadly wet conditions have prevailed this past few weeks...

Vermont CROWS drive cars?
(Preview)
Or would a crow drive "caw?" I went to a guitar jam last night and a new friend's garage. The man had dozens of old license plates from all over the world mounted on the walls. This one caught my eye pretty quickly. Just happens to also be my birth year. -- Edited by Mainehunt on Friday 21st of September 2018...

Almost
(Preview)
I went back to the same blind where I shot 66 yesterday, I figured they were migrant crows that were long gone and new fresh flocks would be moving across the state out of the north again today. 10ga joined me today, birds didn't really move until 10AM and the big push was over for the most part around 1PM....

Where did the crows all come from?!?!
(Preview)
First I had been hearing crows all summer long down the river somewhere...don't recall any juveniles but I am sure I probably did out there somewhat faintly. Anyways took the long way into work to stop for supper...anyways to my surprise eight crows were right in the middle of this back road even if ei...

New fall season, new to me shotgun
(Preview)
The fall crow season is off to a rather slow start in my part of NH. I got out with "10ga" on Wed morning and this morning. Earlier this summer I picked up what is now my oldest shotgun. A Lefever F grade 10ga double from 1891. Light for a 10ga double at 8 lbs 2 oz it's 30" barrels shoot 53% and 85% at 40 yards...

Don't give up yet
(Preview)
Just when I thought that crow hunting possibilities would never return from last season, because of a long hot summer, I had my faith restored today that I would get to bust a few before long. I was out on my back deck today, and a flock of about 100 grackle flew over. It would be virtually impossible to see...

14 Crows Down & I Never Missed Once!!
(Preview)
True, never missed once... Because it has only been two weeks since my neck surgery. The doctors don’t want me to even lift my gun, much less shoot it! The farmer of the same dove field we shot last month (41 killed) called me the day before surgery, so I put him off until I felt strong enough to set up my bl...

End of Spring Season
(Preview)
Ventured out for one more hunt near the end of the Spring season. It was a beautiful sunny breezy day. Five to ten mph wind out of the South or South West as the day went along. Set up in three different places and had a fine adventure. Stand #1 was a roughly 40 acre bean field where I had seen crows on the groun...

The NH fall crow season started on 8/15 and we are more than a month into it. Crows this year are noticably fewer and further between previous seasons. I have yet to go out and not get a shot at a bird but too often that is all that it has been. I have taken 71 birds thus far (and the 10ga, full choke and #6 shot...
