Went out this morning to a pecan orchard we have already shot twice this year (107 on 1st hunt & 61 on 2nd due to fog). There were two of us: me and my new friend who is 84 years old. He's been suffering from a chronic back condition that will hopefully be fixed on the 30th of this month. Even with a l...

Yesterday morning around 0940 while downing the last several birds of a 41 bird outing, I spotting a Game Warden approaching my position! Hi boys, Very inconsistent, and frequently, slow crow hunting for us here in Texas this fall. One weekend we dropped more hogs (13) than total crows shot on other weekends. For another example, one Friday in mid-October I drove 304 miles, to a central Texas ranch that declared they had a lot...

I have noticed over the past so many years the farmer is far more efficient at collecting spilt corn or not spilling any at all! This would explain a lot don't we think No wonder! That is what happened to former areas frequently heavily infested by crows! I wonder why it didn't occur to me sooner! Take a...

Well guys, I was going to save the new shotgun purchase until next year, but I decided to get it now being that it looks like I'll be able to get on a huge dairy farm with lots of corn a handful of times in the next month or two. I bought a Beretta A300 Outlander (online), it's supposed to be delivered to a local...

Sure they are moving through the state but nothing at all like last year. You'll see this big flight and maybe a couple traveling together half hour afterwards! Next another group of 50(?) whom you could get a round off or two and then nothing for up to an hour later! I have seen no roosting behavior at a...

The past three mornings, I was sitting, getting coffeed-up whilst reading up on my PC, the usual criminal activities in The Swamp, at my usual spot by the window. Then, at the usual time about 20 min. before sunrise, came the usual crow racket. But this time (Sat.) there was considerably more sound. So...

After many many hours of research and back and forth I had the opportunity to try and use the Shotkam over the past few months. Although we don't have very high crow numbers here yet I still wanted to get out and try it out. The results are fantastic and I can't wait to get on a good crow hunt soon to get some...

Bob O, While at the National Sporting Clays Championship last week I went in to see some vendors set up in a "mini mall" and while shopping, saw a video playing non-stop. Hello everyone!! What a great forum you have here. I shot a few crow last summer with my 17 WSM. Bad thing was they had to land in a tree before I could think of getting a shot off. This year I will go out with a 12 gauge. The season starts August 1st. I'm very excited. I'll post up some pics if I get any. It'...

Went out this morning and had a fighting setup. 2 Crow, Fish fighting over a crumpled up red bandana with 6 others looking on. Things were really slow. All of a sudden, a Coopers Hawk swoops in and snatches one of the decoys and flies away!!! Not realizing that it was a cardboard silhouette! Well, it gets...

It has been 50 years ago today, Oct. 28, 2017 that I officially started my crow hunting sport. I was living in Atlanta, Ga. at the time, and went hunting with a friend in Newnan, Ga. I was out in the country today and pulled in to an old fond memory. It was the farm where it all started back in November of 1968 with my father. I took my new shotgun to the range after my first and first unsuccessful run and gun. I shot Federal Ultra Clay and Field 1 1/8 oz 6s, with a modified choke, but am thinking I should consider the Gun clubs in #8 or an IC choke. What say the group? Almost 70 degrees again today in the northeast. They say we are on track for an all time record warm October. The impact on hunting has been terrible. This is normally the time of a big migration.
