How long to wait before shooting the same spot again?
(Preview)
I shot a pecan orchard last weekend and killed 60 crows in horrible fog. The farmer called this week and said I didn't make a dent. I was thinking about going and busting them again in the morning. Is that too soon? If I go, I plan on setting up in the other end of the orchard. It has I guess about 75 trees in it...

Today's disaster so far.
(Preview)
So, set up on a new field this morning in the dark, set the decoys up to the right, of me, meaning I should have the farm house on the left, and a clear field of fire to the front, right, and rear. As the light appeared I discovered to my front a gap in the trees, and about 150 metres from me in his g at the back of th...

My "Quick Dozen"
(Preview)
Stupid high wind this morning, pushing 50kph (30 mph). Crows didn't seem to move much, just lots soaring and fun & frolic a mile north along a tree line. They just seemed to stay put. Managed to put the hammer on 12 with one double though. The first bird of the double went down squalling so I went over t...

Rookie's results
(Preview)
We set up Sunday evening and tried to follow as much of the advice you guys offered as we could. Wound up killing 5 (should have been 8 or 9 with better shooting; less choke next time!). Not big numbers but we're hunting a group of about 100 birds. They're local "Southern" birds that have be...

Starting early this year
(Preview)
I decided to visit several of my farms this year and get some hides built prior to season. My favorite place to hunt has a 200 acre bottom in it. I pulled up to the farmers place and he was glad to see I was after his crows. I notice that he had'nt gotten his corn out. I told him I was out building hides but would...

Went on a dove shoot yesterday. A good dove shoot There was about 9 guys hunting a 200 acre cut corn field. LOTS of birds!!!! We started shooting and after about 40 minutes the birds got real smart real quick, odd for this early in the season. I reached in my bag and screwed in my open water choke from Angle...

Today's disaster

So, the farmer texted me this morning and asked me to set up on a field near a bunch of antis as he was having problems with crows there ( note, these antis have reported people to police and lost them their gun licences, they make a habit of reporting anything, and also stand with tins and bang loudly on the...

The difference In size
(Preview)
Here you can see the difference in size between a NORMAL sized Jackdaw and a MEDIUM sized Grey and a MEDIUM sized Carrion.
You can appreciate that these two species are very difficult to kill, especially once they get to this size and larger.
Then you can hit them with 7.5 and they just shrug it off if at...

Today's bag
(Preview)
Well, got up at 04:30 and was set up on the field with my shooting partner Gareth by 06:00. Unlike Saturday the day started very slow. By 11:00 I had 19 birds, and my oppo Gareth had 9. For some reason the birds just weren't appearing, and Jose that did were rarely decoying. So at 11:00 Gareth said he was cal...

Hi lads,
what is your favourite crow call, the one you would not want to be without (mouth blown, not electronic) and why?
I am looking for loud, low and raspy!
Same for ducks. I was thinking about Duck commanders: (Ole raspy, the sarge or green mile) or some haydels because they are inexpensive an...

I'm limited to setting up in this same field (about 250 acres) or another about 1/2 mile away. I'm not sure where they are roosting. My question is: What's the best way to hunt these guy...

Seems every time I crow hunt its the same thing. 60 or 70 yards high. Im thinking of useing a damn tree stand so I can get in range! Out again this morning solo after the crows. Clear, little wind, and a good frost. Crows were somewhat tardy this morning as I didn't get my first shot until well after sunrise.
