Retirement (from crow hunting)
(Preview)
Three years ago today, Dec. 27, 2019 I shot my last crow. I sold all my crow hunting gear since then, and about all that I have to do with crow hunting now is think about it. Do I miss it, not really, but I think about those days which lasted approx. 55 years. But there was one span of about 27 years in which I cro...

tough three days.
(Preview)
I went on a 3 day outing with an older fella that wanted to shoot some crows. We revisited some areas that Dale and I had been earlier in the season. One of the first stops was really a scouting venture and when I parked by the orchard to see what activity was going on I could hear occasional gun shots, come to...

Another crow hunting milestone!
(Preview)
I shot 160 on a solo hunt yesterday and with that hit my 172,000 th crow in 49 crow seasons! Back in 2000 when I shot my 100,000th crow I never thought I would get this far. So many wonderful memories over the years chasing those crows!

Fall 2022
(Preview)
Our first outing was on Tue. 8 Nov. A warm windy day that was predicted to be cloudy, but ended up mostly sunny. We ended up with 52, and were quite pleased with that number. It was good to be out again, shaking off the rust, making sure the tools worked properly and re-familiarizing myself with the call re...

A NEW BLIND.
(Preview)
After getting a few seasons under my belt and paying attention to what I need in a blind and what I do not, I went to work on one that would fit all the needs I am aware of at this time. This new blind concept had to meet a few criteria:Had to come in under 50lbs.Had to be compact.Had to provide ample room for two...

Slayer Crow Call
(Preview)
Good Evening Everyone! I have followed Crowbusters for many many years. Back in 2000 I ordered 2 "Slayer" crow calls (1 Cedar and 1 Plastic) from the site. I kept the plastic one and gifted the cedar one to my grandfather, who had been hunting crows since he was a child and originally introduced me to...

Banded crow...
(Preview)
While doing some scouting here in Oklahoma I met a rancher who shoot's a few crow's now and then. He showed a pic of a crow he shot last year with a band on it's leg. The band had a phone number on it but he had never called it in. I convinced him to call it in to see what we could learn about the crow's travels. The...

(Preview)
Here is the best hunt so far this season. I got two with one shot on this hunt. Dick and I rolled 417 crows from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. I shot 217 and Dick shot 200. The first photo is on Dicks side of the blind. It's impossible to see all the birds downed in the under brush.

Rotary Magnet Decoys

I did a search and did not find any previous posts on the rotary magnet decoys. It seems they are mostly used in the UK for pigeons, but they also have a crow version available as well.
Does anyone use one of these setups and if so how successful are they? Does anyone sell the rotary magnet decoys in the Uni...

Season's First Hunt

Went out with a friend to hunt in a pecan orchard near the house. We hunt this orchard every year and, although small and surrounded by a cluster of residential homes, it is usually a solid place to hunt. This morning was somewhat slow, but the weather was perfect... 63 degrees to start with no wind. Th...

While out in the yard a couple days ago, I heard some nearby crows suddenly give the warning/alarm calls, so I turned around. Crows strafing decoys?
(Preview)
My hide was in the edge of standing corn and I put 20 feeding decoys 20-30 yards out in a freshly bailed hay field. I took a length of bamboo with a flocked full-body decoy on top and stuck it 5 yards to my right, on the same edge row of the corn as my hide. Like a perched sentry. Electronic caller stashed in wi...
