Pecans: The Pied Piper of Crows
(Preview)
North Carolina does not have pecan orchards like some of our southern states do, so when I got the call from my friend Mark to help with some "crop damage" problems in "pecanville" the only thing my wife could see the next morning were the tail lights on my truck. I consider pecans...

(Preview)
Just tried a box of 12 ga 2 3/4" 3dram 1 1/8 oz 7 1/2 shot heavy loads AA's, really like the way they shoot. Anyone else notice a difference with them over cheaper shells ? I assume the heavy designation indicates hardened or magnum shot. Just curious of what others think. Jerry

Ended up with 25
(Preview)
Went out this AM to a new farm that wasn't too promising, and sure enough, we left after less than an hour and 3 birds. Went over to a sunflower field that we had shot almost 3 weeks ago. The wind was howling, so the calling was not as effective. Numbers were lower than before, but we ended up with 25. Here...

Last winter was strange up here, by the time February and March came around,(Our season is Feb/March and Aug/Sep, no Sundays) 90% of our snow was gone. So we went to our favorite farm and setup...

Fish Crows & Common Crows
(Preview)
Here is a photo of a few fish crows and common crows together as they are taking flight. In the next photo you can see the fish crow at the top and the two common crows on the bottom of the photo. In the next photo you can see that the fish crow's bone structure is more frail than a common crow's.

Please pray for my friend John Murdaugh. He had a heart attack Friday, and they revived him, but he was dead for 15 minutes. He was responsive today, but he is not out of the woods yet. He has 4 stints and a balloon. They are taking the balloon out tonight. He looks like hell. Please pray for him. Thanks.

How to judge distance on the wing?
(Preview)
Anyone have any good tips on judging distance on a crow in the air? I took some pairs of dead crows and spaced them at 10 yards intervals out to 50 yards. I spread the wings on one and the other I left wings folded and staked them up with the breast facing me. I them shouldered my gun and used the rib and bead to m...

160 miles, 80 dead crows, and in the office in time for lunch.
(Preview)
I got a call a few days ago from my buddy JJ, who was gleefully complaining about being covered up in crows. I felt compelled to help him with this problem, so I woke up at 4:15, and drove the 87 miles to his wheat field. We set up his Snow Crow Pro, and my Fury, and put out about 20 decoys. JJ wasn't lying. W...

Hello All, I've been on and off this forum for a couple years or more. Glad to see the forum now. Last summer we hunted hard with my new Fox Pro Spitfire and 1 decoy. We used an Air crow with the spinning wings. It worked very well, but we want to also try different dekes to see if anything is better. Anybody el...

By the time we carry decoys, e-caller, guns, a case of ammo, lights and pole to hang decoys, we are tired and out of breath. Anyone have a cart of some sort that works for you?

I spent the afternoon riding around with a friend that farms here in MS. He showed me 6 new places we can hunt. They are all within 30 min of my house. We saw crows on all of them. Two fields had over a hundred birds in each. One of the fields had 200+ birds. I am excited.

Need some help with a shot.

I try to let my son shoot as much as I can when we hunt together. This is the way it usually goes... Crow is crossing or going away at a good clip. Noah shoots late in the pass and misses. I either immediately take a shot and fold it up or I miss 3 times. There is rarely any in-between. Once he shoots, the afterbu...

Crow season this Sat.
(Preview)
Crow season starts here in CA on Dec 4. We have done our scouting and the gear is ready. We can only shoot 24 per person out here. It should not take long for a 3 way limit. Season ends April 6th, after that we have to get a note from the land owner to shoot nuisance crows. -----------kevin-----------

California Question: Hunting Crows in the non-lead zone

Hello everyone, got another newbie question here. This one applies mainly to CA. I'm a little uncertain on the ammo, and searching around hasn't given me definitive answer. Do we need to use non-lead ammo for crows here in the non-lead zone? I'm assuming 99% of the hunting we will be doing will fall in...
