Any suggestions for anything special in the way of collapsible poles for hanging up decoys? I know about the big box stores with their painter poles and such, but I'd like something better. Thanks Chuck

How to scare crows away?
(Preview)
Have a few crows that are annoyingly loud around the neighborhood. Wondering if there is a sound that I can play through the car or house speakers to scare them away. No guns allowed for foreigners, inside city limits, no slingshots, air rifles, and no backstop for rocks.

Photos Of Live Crows!
(Preview)
I just got back from out of town today and had a very productive crow hunt. The first day all I did was scout from sunup to sunset. The next day I shot 161 crows from 7:30a.m. - 9:30a.m. then went out that afternoon and shot 340 crows from 2p.m. - 5:30p.m. I used 546 traploads for the job, and the total for the d...

Anyone tried to record their own sounds???
(Preview)
I am doing a little research and was wandering if anyone has every tried to record their own REAL crow sounds? I was checking on the needed equipment and it seems the only things needed are a directional or parabolic microphone and a recording device. I have lots of friends in the music field and I don't...

Kansas opening day
(Preview)
Just to show everyone that not everyone in Kansas can shoot like Bob, lol. I hunted a little last year but nothing serious so this was my first so to say serious hunt. 15 isn't many but it is a start and I feel like I learned a lot. I can not seem to find a big concentration of birds so I just run and gun. As the day...

Nice Sunday morning hunt

I took my oldest daughter this morning for a little outing. She shot 8. She did very well considering last year we hunted all season and she only killed one. It was a beautiful day to be out in God's creation enjoying the sunrise. We killed a total of 48. We picked up the few that landed in the newly planted w...

Great Day today
(Preview)
After leaving work a little late today (12:15) I was totally ambivalent about going crow hunting. I couldn't go yesterday because I had an appointment for a physical and the day before I never got a shot. I checked out two spots without seeing a crow and almost didn't go to this place. When I pulled in...

crows and dogs
(Preview)
Though they get little or nothing in the way of work on my excursions, I like to take my dogs along when I make my feeble attempts at crow hunting. I'd like to ask the hunters who actually experience success if dogs running out to retrieve the fallen adversely affects the shoot? Thanks in advance. Chuck ...

Interesting 1st Time Out
(Preview)
I had an interesting morning for my first time out. Fog, Rain and Wind. But I did manage to bag one. Not bad for lacking camo, using home made silhouettes and armed with just a hand call. -- Edited by Aries on Friday 4th of November 2011 11:41:13 PM

One day and a wake up! As the old saying goes. Can't hardly wait. We have lots of new places to hunt and we are seeing lots of large groups of crows. We are planning a scouting trip tomorrow afternoon to make the final decision for the season opener. That should be a fun drive around the countryside. I had 3...

How many decoys do you use?
(Preview)
Just wondering on average how many decoys everyone uses on a hunt. We typically hunt over 3-5 dozen decoys. At times I wonder if we have to many decoys and not enough realistic motion in the spread. Thinking about dropping down to 1-2 dozen decoys and a few flappers. What are yall's opinions?

Opening day was a flop My first set was disasterous. I was set up and ready at daylight. The birds that came in acted like they had been shot at since march. Circled high and left. Different Color Crows
(Preview)
We ran across a field full of gray crows - they are fairly prevalent in Texas this time of year. Here's a pic along with my retriever - at eight years, he's finally getting the hang of it. These were shot in Poteet, Texas last weekend.
