Great Day today
(Preview)
After leaving work a little late today (12:15) I was totally ambivalent about going crow hunting. I couldn't go yesterday because I had an appointment for a physical and the day before I never got a shot. I checked out two spots without seeing a crow and almost didn't go to this place. When I pulled in...

crows and dogs
(Preview)
Though they get little or nothing in the way of work on my excursions, I like to take my dogs along when I make my feeble attempts at crow hunting. I'd like to ask the hunters who actually experience success if dogs running out to retrieve the fallen adversely affects the shoot? Thanks in advance. Chuck ...

Interesting 1st Time Out
(Preview)
I had an interesting morning for my first time out. Fog, Rain and Wind. But I did manage to bag one. Not bad for lacking camo, using home made silhouettes and armed with just a hand call. -- Edited by Aries on Friday 4th of November 2011 11:41:13 PM

One day and a wake up! As the old saying goes. Can't hardly wait. We have lots of new places to hunt and we are seeing lots of large groups of crows. We are planning a scouting trip tomorrow afternoon to make the final decision for the season opener. That should be a fun drive around the countryside. I had 3...

How many decoys do you use?
(Preview)
Just wondering on average how many decoys everyone uses on a hunt. We typically hunt over 3-5 dozen decoys. At times I wonder if we have to many decoys and not enough realistic motion in the spread. Thinking about dropping down to 1-2 dozen decoys and a few flappers. What are yall's opinions?

You Yankee boys need to send me some birds!!!!!
(Preview)
Opening day was a flop My first set was disasterous. I was set up and ready at daylight. The birds that came in acted like they had been shot at since march. Circled high and left. We relocated a couple miles down the road and managed to scratch out 30. Next day today we hunted a farm that was covered with cr...

Different Color Crows
(Preview)
We ran across a field full of gray crows - they are fairly prevalent in Texas this time of year. Here's a pic along with my retriever - at eight years, he's finally getting the hang of it. These were shot in Poteet, Texas last weekend.

Retrievers for crows?

Just started crow hunting. I freaking love it! Finally got into a good shoot, i am addicted. I noticed a couple pics with dogs. I use my lab for waterfowl but never tried him on crows. I am a little concerned with cripples and sharp beaks. Any advice? I see myself doing a LOT of crow shooting and feel a littl...

With deer season still a few weeks away and seeing as all the crows have now left for a more southerly climate I thought I'd get out and try to bust a few coyotes. Flocking Question

I ordered and received a flocking kit from Doug at crowmart. It came with a pint of oil based gloss black paint as the undercoater.
